Goals and Objectives
Spiritual
- to instill in all students a respect for the dignity of every individual student
- to develop acceptance of each student’s giftedness
- to develop a sense of stewardship
- to develop a respect for life in all its forms, especially human life
- to build faith community among faculty, students, and parents
- to pray and worship together
Intellectual
- to develop a competence in reading, writing, and computing
- to develop a foundation in the core disciplines of language, math, science, social studies and physical education
- to expose students to their cultural heritage
- to emphasize basic skills
- to develop a variety of techniques which will meet every student’s learning style: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic
- to develop a desire for learning
- to develop intellectual curiosity
- to develop and use a variety of manipulatives, concrete objects and visuals
- to facilitate concept and skill attainment for students
- to develop questioning, analytical, logical and critical thinking
- to develop an appreciation for the fine arts and technology
- to guide students in developing responsible study habits for independence in learning
- to develop an appreciation for the value of knowledge (process)
- to instruct according to objectives and have students master learning according to known objectives
- to actively involve students in learning (small groups, independent, paired learning, large groups)
Social
- to develop social skills/traits such as courtesy, respect truthfulness, honesty and fairness
- to guide children to experiences that develop personal responsibility, career education and life skills
- to develop responsibility for one’s own behavior
- to develop responsibility for self and others
- to develop respect for cultural backgrounds
- to foster respect for heritage
- to teach methods for responsible decision-making and moral choices
- to offer opportunities for involvement in Christian service
Emotional
- to foster good self image to provide opportunities for feelings to be explored
- to help students recognize and understand their emotions
- to help students take responsibility for their feelings and the actions that are an expression of these feelings
- to provide an atmosphere of security and love
- to provide experience in music and drama as emotional outlets
- to help children express feelings and cope with and/or adjust to problems they are facing
Physical
- to develop gross and fine motor skills
- to develop physical strengths within the individual and increase efficiency of the various systems of the body
- to have students perform skills in a coordinated manner in physical education classes as well as in daily living
- to open the opportunity to accumulate a substantial body of knowledge regarding sports and physical activities and the ability to be able to think and interpret this knowledge
- to aid the students to adjust both personally and socially when dealing with others in order to become better members of society as both participants and spectators
- to provide experience in self-direction, self-control, leadership and fellowship
- to develop habits and attitudes favorable to wise use of leisure time
- to provide an outlet against the stress and strain of modern living
