<p><strong>SES Recruitment Party and Catholic Schools Mass</strong>- Thank you to our dedicated faculty, staff, students, and parents who came together to make each of these events so special.</p>
<p><strong>2012-2013 Registration</strong>- Packets were sent home today.  In-house registration will be held February 6-10.</p>
<p><strong>Super Bowl Pools</strong>- will go home later this week.</p>

<p><strong>Catholic Schools Week</strong>- January 29-February 3.  Students are asked to bring hygiene items to schools to be presented at the Catholic Schools Week Mass on Friday, February 3.  St. Elizabeth School is asked to bring toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, deodorant, shaving cream, first aid supplies.  Please bring these items to school by Tuesday, January 31.</p>

<span style="text-decoration: underline">Wednesday, February 1</span>: Dress Down for Catholic Schools Week. Students are encouraged to wear Green, Red and Purple.  Regular dress down rules apply.  Students may wear a spirit shirt or uniform shirt in lieu of green, red or purple.<br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline">Thursday, February 2</span>: There will be a Pep-rally for the students as well as a special treat for each of them.<br />

<p><strong>Volleyball</strong> Practice for all girl&#8217;s (5th &#8211; 8th):<br />
Conditioning: Monday from 4 &#8211; 5.<br />
All girls are required to be at the Team Placement/Practice: Wednesday from 2:15 &#8211; 4:30. Please bring yourself a snack to eat after school, since practice is long.  Also, please remember to bring knee pads.<br />
Possible Practice: Thursday TBA at Wednesday&#8217;s practice.</p>
<p>Girls that have not had a physical this year, needs to have a physical prior to Friday, February 10th.</p>
<p><strong>Mandatory Volleyball Registration Night:</strong> Friday, February 10th from 6 &#8211; 7 pm in the old gym. At least one parent/ guardian is required to be at registration. All forms (including physical form) &amp; fees need to be submitted that night prior to receiving jersey. Forms were sent home last week. 6th &amp; 7th graders can disregard the last page of the forms (CYO Individual Registration Form). The wrong one was sent home. You will be provided with the correct one on Registration Night. It is the same form with the correct info at the top. There will be a short meeting at the end to discuss plans for the season.</p>

Please submit all forms &amp; fees by Friday, February 3rd. There are two more forms that will be sent home when we receive from the league.</p>

<p><strong>VOLUNTEERS for Adult Lip Sync</strong> &#8211; We are looking for volunteers to help out at the Adult Lip Sync on Saturday, February 11th. If any parents are willing to help with concession, at the door, behind the scenes, or in any way that night please contact the office. Planning for the BIG EVENT is going great, and it is sure to be an entertaining night!!!</p>

<p><strong>Bishop&#8217;s Visit &#8211; </strong>Bishop Muench will celebrate mass and visit with the student body, faculty, and staff of SES on Friday, February 24.  Everyone is invited to join us for mass.</p>
<p><strong>Parent-Teacher Conferences &#8211; </strong>Wednesday, February 29.  Children will not attend school this day.  Parents will be given the opportunity to sign up for conferences.</p>
<p><strong>Pee Wee Basketball &#8211; </strong>March 2.</p>

<p><strong>Drama Practice</strong>- Students involved in the drama play were sent home with a practice schedule on Friday.  If you did not receive one please contact the office.  Practices for this week are as follows: Monday January 23, Wednesday, January 25, and Thursday, January 26.  All practices are until 4:30.  Any children involved in basketball or volleyball will be allowed to leave early from practice.  <span style="text-decoration: underline">K and 1st Graders-</span> Students in K&amp; 1st grade are invited to join the cast of Alice in Wonderland. The boys would participate as &#8220;card soldiers&#8221; and the girls would be &#8220;flowers&#8221;.  The boys will wear white and the girls will wear green.   More information will be sent home to those who choose to participate concerning costumes and practices (only the week of the play on March 31) later.</p>
<p><strong>Community Coffee Labels- </strong>will be shipped on January 30, 2012. If you have any that you have been holding on to, please submit them this week.  Please continue to submit them through out the year as they are submitted twice each school year.</p>
<p><strong>Coupons</strong>- Please continue to submit your Box Tops for Education, Community Coffee Labels, Coke Tops, Powerade Tops, Labels for Education and Surfresh labels.</p>
<p><strong>Cartriges for Kids -  </strong>We are still collecting any used ink cartridges.  You can send these to the office at your convenience. </p>
<p><strong>Super Bowl Pools</strong>-  Please be sure to send back the board on time to give all families equal time to sell squares.  Please contact the school if you are interested in purchasing a square.  We have $10.00 and $100.00 squares available.</p>

A permission slip is attached to the letter. Please complete the permission slip, sign and return to school. Sodality service hours will be given to Sodality members.</p>
<p><strong>Catholic Schools Week Mass</strong>- Catholic Schools Week will begin Sunday, January 29th with 10:45 Mass at St. Elizabeth. Sodality members are expected to attend. 3rd and 4th grade students are invited to sing in the choir.  All students and parents are encouraged to attend. Students must wear their uniform.   Immediately following mass a reception will be held in the new gym. CF Industries has generously donated Jambalaya, refreshments and desserts which will be served at the reception. There will be a special prize for students who attend in uniform.</p>

<p><strong>SES 2012 Distinguished Graduate - </strong>Congratulations to Suzanne Giroir, SES class of &#8217;82, who will represent SES at the Diocesan Distinguished Graduates Dinner on Tuesday, January 31 as well as at the Catholic Schools Mass at St. Elizabeth Church on Sunday January 29.  We are proud to have a graduate who remains so active in our school as a parent and school board member, dedicating much of her time to SES.</p>

Parents &#8211; please check the work schedule that was sent home prior to the holidays.  If you are scheduled to work the concession stand or the door, please get to the community center no later than half an hour prior to the first game, and help clean up after the last game.  If you do not have a schedule, please contact the office.<br />

<p>The 5 &amp; 6th grade teams will have practice from 6:30 &#8211; 8 on Tuesday in the new gym.  The 7th grade team will practice on Tuesday from 6:30 &#8211; 7:30 in the old gym.<br />
 Please check the Basketball Work Schedule.  If you are scheduled to work this week, please be at the community center at least 30 minutes prior to first game.  Workers scheduled to work concession stand/door, be prepared to stay until after the last game to help clean up.  There will be a sign in sheet located in the concession stand for workers that work the concession stand/door and a clean up checklist for after the last game.  The 5th and 6th grade players are required to buy their jerseys ($25).  If the jersey fees are not paid by the Friday, January 13, 2012, the player will not be allowed to play in games until the fees are paid.</p>

<p><strong>Christmas Eve Mass</strong>- will be at 4:oo pm at St. Elizabeth Church.  The adult choir will provide music for mass.  If any student who signed up for the choir would like to sing in the adult choir please join them for practice on Wednesday evening at 5pm in church.  The practice will be about 1 hour and 15 minutes.  All students  participating as angels or shepherds should be at church on Christmas Eve at 3:45.  They will take part in the Precession and sit in a reserved section in the front of church where they will remain until their parents pick them up after Mass.</p>

<p><strong>December 19</strong> &#8211; Class parties have been rescheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, December 19 because of the shortened day on Tuesday.</p>

<p><strong>Accelerated Reader</strong>- The last <span style="color: #000000">d</span>ay to test for Accelerated Reader for the 2nd nine weeks is December 19.</p>
<p><strong>Lunch Money</strong>- If your child has a balance owed to the lunch room, please be sure the balance is payed off before exams.</p>
<p><strong>Tardies &#8211; </strong>Please make sure that students are at school by 7:30.  According to the SES handbook, parents will be assesed a $10 fine for each 7 tardies.  Instruction begins promptly in the morning and it is important for all children to be present unless sick.  Thank you for your cooperation.</p>
<p><strong>Circle of Care Lessons- </strong>will be on January 5, 2012.   Letters concerning the Circles of Care lessons were sent home today.  You only have to fill out the form and send it back to school if you<strong> do not</strong> want your child to participate.</p>
<p> <strong>Diocesan Quiz Bowl</strong>- Congratulations to the following students who made the Diocesan Quiz Bowl Team: 5th Grade &#8211; Madelyn Fernandez, Zane Blanchard &amp;  Andre Giroir; 6th Grade &#8211; Philip Davis, Emily Pujol &amp; Kate Thibodeaux; 7th Grade &#8211; Meg Prejean, Claire Landry &amp; Scott Michael LeBlanc; 8th Grade &#8211; Andre Templet, Kelsey Gros &amp; Sydnei Mabile.  These students will represent St. Elizabeth School at the Diocesan Quiz Bowl which will take place on February 4, 2012.</p>
<p><strong>Aftercare-</strong> All overdue aftercare must be paid by Monday, December 19 in order to clear the aftercare books.  The weeks of December 12-16 and Monday, December 19 will be on one statement will which will be given out on January 4 when we return from the holidays.</p>
<p><strong>Christmas Eve Mass</strong>- will be at 4:oopm at St. Elizabeth Church.  The adult choir will provide music for mass.  There were not enough interested students to form a children&#8217;s choir this year.  We are still asking students who signed up to dress as shepherds and angels to participate.</p>
<p><strong>LSU Football Pool Fundraiser</strong>- The pools will be for the National Championship game on January 9, 2012.  Numbers and copies of the boards will be sent home before the Christmas Holidays.   Please contact the school if you are interested in purchasing a square.  We have $10.00 and $20.00 squares available.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Beta Cake Sale &#8211; </strong>A Big Thank You to all BETA members, parents, sponsors, and community members  who helped make the cake sale a great success this weekend after masses at St. Elizabeth and St. Jules.   We raised $1980.00 for the Andrew A.J Frey Memorial Garden. </p>
<p><strong>Pack &#8211; a &#8211; Sack -  </strong>Thanks to everyone who packed their sacks with non-perishable food items. We collected  approximately 3794 lbs. of food which has been donated to the St. Elizabeth Food Pantry.</p>
<p><strong>World&#8217;s Finest Chocolate Candy Sale &#8211; </strong>Thanks to everyone for their support.    The winners are 1st place -John Paul Brown , 2nd Place- Emma, Chloe and Chandler Prejean, Tie for 3rd Place-Cody &amp; Sadie Jacobs and Nyoshi Smith.</p>
<p><strong>Adult Lip Sync</strong>- has been changed to Saturday, February 11 at 7:30pm.  Please contact Darlene Landry at (225) 573-5212, Liz George at (225)717-3113 or the SES Office at (985)369-7402 for more information.</p>
<p><strong>LSU Football Pool Fundraiser</strong>-  Pools will be send home on Tuesdays.  If this is your fundraiser, you will have one week to sell the required squares and return it to school to be sent to another family the following week.   Information will be sent home with the board. These boards are for the LSU Bowl game which will be determined at the end of the regular season.</p>
<p><strong>School Board Meeting</strong>- Monday, November 14 at 6:45pm in the school office.  Everyone is invited to attend.</p>
<p><strong>Progress Reports</strong>- Wednesday, November 16.</p>
<p><strong>Boys Basketball </strong><strong>Practice and Meeting-</strong>  Scheduled for Wednesday, November 16 from 6pm-7pm.  A mandatory parent meeting will follow the practice at 7pm. </p>
<p><strong>Student of the Year Interviews</strong>- 5th grade interviews will take place on Wednesday, November 16 after school and 8th grade interviews will take place on Thursday, November 17 after school.  Students will be allowed to call home when finished with their interviews.</p>
<p><strong>Grandparents Day</strong>- November 18.  Grandparents can meet their grandchildren in church for 8am mass.  Everyone is invited to the new gym for a reception following mass.  Students will report back to school after the reception for a regular day of classes.   </p>
<p><strong>Thanksgiving Holidays</strong>- No school from November 21-25.  Classes resume on Monday, November 28.</p>
<p><strong>Quiz Bowl</strong>- The next Morgan City competition is on Tuesday, November 29th at 12:15 p.m. Students will eat lunch at school for 10:45 a.m. and will be allowed to leave at 11:00 a.m. Students are not required to return to school after the competition. Parents must send a note by Monday, November 28th stating how their child will be getting to the competition.</p>
<p><strong>Breakfast with Santa</strong>- Saturday, December 3.  Flyers were sent home today.  Please invite relatives and friends to join us for a fun filled morning!</p>
<p><strong>Diocesan Quiz Bowl Tryouts</strong>- Tuesday, December 6.</p>
<p><strong>Spirit Dress Down Day</strong>- Wednesday, December 7.  Students may wear a school spirit shirt or uniform shirt and jeans or uniform shorts and uniform socks and shoes.  Jeans must be worn at the waist and may not have holes.  Please see the SES student handbook for complete dress down day guidelines.</p>
<p><strong>Christmas Memorials</strong>- December 8.  Mass will be at 7:35am.  To send a memorial gift,  please contact the school and a form will be sent home to you.</p>
<p><strong>Superintendent&#8217;s Visit</strong>- Dr. Melanie Verges will be visiting SES on Friday, December 9.</p>
<p><strong>Super Bowl Pools- </strong>will begin being sent home on December 12. </p>
<p><strong>Spelling Bee Lists Distributed</strong>- December 12.  Spelling Bee is January 25.</p>
<p><strong>Kindergarten Parent Breakfast</strong>- Wednesday, December 14 at 7am.  Parents are invited to join us for morning prayer in the Prayer Garden after breakfast.</p>
<p><strong>2nd Nine Weeks Exams</strong>- December 14-16.</p>
<p><strong>Body Walk</strong>- December 16.  Volunteers will be needed.  More information will be provided.</p>
<p><strong>Christmas Activities</strong>- December 20-Nativity, Christmas Program, Class Christmas Parties.</p>
<p><strong>Christmas Eve Mass</strong>&#8211; Students in PreK-3rd grades are invited to dress as angels or shepherds and student in 4th -8th grades may participate in  the choir for the Christmas Eve Vigil Mass at St. Elizabeth Church.  Information was sent home today.     </p>
<p><strong>Christmas Holidays</strong>- No school from December 21-January 3.</p>
<p><strong>Parents Provide Transportation</strong>- Wednesday, January 4.  There will be no bus transportation.  Aftercare will be provided.</p>
<p><strong>Social Studies and Science Fairs -  </strong>Social Studies Fair is January 19.  Science Fair is February 16.</p>
