Schedule Change- SES students will be dismissed at 11:05 on Tuesday, December 20.  Breakfast will be served as usual, but lunch will not be served on Tuesday only.

December 19 – Class parties 1 p.m. on Monday.

December 20- Mass at 7:35, Nativity in church at 8:15, Christmas Program in the Community Center at 9:00.  Students will be dismissed at 11:05.    In lieu of gift exchanges among students, each class will participate in a service project of their choice.

Thanks for being so “Chair-itable!” – St. Elizabeth School would like to Thank our Grandparents and Community Partners for being so “Chair-itable” with their donations which have allowed us to purchase 7 tables, 70 chairs and 2 chair racks for our new gym/community center. Our “Chair-itable” donations were made by or in honor of : Deanna Bertrand, Co-Co Arceneaux, Mona Woods, Rocky & Jeannie Morris, In Memory of Paul and Bessie LeBlanc, Judge Long, Chris & Heidi Mattingly, Gerald & Margaret Thibodeaux, Gerald  Breaux, Mike & Polly Johnson, Brian & Wanda Fernandez, Iris Breaux, Don Savoie,  In honor  of the Faculty and Staff of SES, In Memory of Bessie Simoneaux.

No Aftercare – December 20.

Christmas Holidays- No school from December 21-January 3.

Christmas Eve Mass- will be at 4:oo pm at St. Elizabeth Church.  The adult choir will provide music for mass.  If any student who signed up for the choir would like to sing in the adult choir please join them for practice on Wednesday evening at 5pm in church.  The practice will be about 1 hour and 15 minutes.  All students  participating as angels or shepherds should be at church on Christmas Eve at 3:45.  They will take part in the Precession and sit in a reserved section in the front of church where they will remain until their parents pick them up after Mass.

Parents Provide Transportation- Wednesday, January 4.  There will be no bus transportation.  Aftercare will be provided.

Scrip Orders-  Regular scrip will resume after the Christmas Holidays.

Super Bowl Pools- In order to give extra time to sell the Super Bowl squares, a list was sent home today with families to pre-sell squares.  You will still receive the board for your scheduled one week.   Please be sure to send back the board on time to give all families equal time to sell squares.  Please contact the school is you are interested in purchasing a square.  We have $10.00 and $100.00 squares available.

SES Recruitment Party – Saturday, January 28.  Please forward names of prospective families so that they can be invited to attend.

SES Athletics- Boys Basketball – January 4- Home vs. Holy Family- 6th grade at 6:00; 7th grade at 6:45; 8th grade at 7:45.  January 5- at Our Lady of Mercy- 7th grade at 6:45;  January 6 at St. John- 6th grade at 6:45; 8th grade at 7:45.  boys Basketball schedules were sent home last week.  If you did not receive a copy, please contact the office.  The boys on the 5th and 6th grade teams are required to pay $25.00 for a jersey.  They will be able to keep the jerseys, and 5th graders will use the jerseys again next year.  If your child is reusing a jersey from last year they are not required to pay for a new jersey.  The boys basketball work schedule will be sent home today.  Please check the schedule to see when you are scheduled to work.  the first home game is January 4.  If any girls basketball player has not turned in their uniform please turn them into the office.

SES Boys Basketball Practice- 5th & 6th Grade- Tuesday, December 20 from 6:00-7:00.  8th grade- Friday, December 23 from 10:30-12:30.

 Preliminary Spelling and Math Bee Tests- Friday, January 6.

First Friday – January 6 – Sodality uniforms are to be worn.

Mission Collection – Friday, January 6.

Report Cards- January 10.

SIT Committee Meeting – 6:45 in the office for committee members.

Math Bee- January 12.

Boys Basketball Pictures- January 12 from 2-3pm.

Martin Luther King Day Holiday- No school on January 16.

School Board Meeting – January 17 at 6:45 in the office.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Quiz Bowl- The next Morgan City competition is on Tuesday, January 17th at 12:15pm.  Students will eat lunch at school for 10:45 am and will be allowed to leave at 11:00am.  Students are not required to return to school after the competition.

Spirit Dress Down- Wednesday, January 18.  students may wear a school spirit shirt or uniform shirt and jeans or uniform shorts and uniform socks and shoes.  Jeans must be worn at the waist and may not have holes.  Please see the SES student handbook for complete dress down day guidelines.

1st Grade Parent Breakfast- Wednesday, January 18 at 7am.  Parents are invited to join us for morning prayer in the Prayer Garden after Breakfast.

Social Studies Fair- January 19.

Spelling Bee - January 25. Grades 1-4 will participate in the Spelling Bee.

Schedule Change- Assumption Parish Schools are dismissing 3 hours early on December 20. In order to have bus transportation, SES students will be dismissed at 11:05 on Tuesday, December 20.  Breakfast will be served as usual, but lunch will not be served on Tuesday only.

Christmas Activities- please note changes.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

December 19 – Class parties have been rescheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, December 19 because of the shortened day on Tuesday.

Volunteers Needed- We are in need of volunteers to help assemble  our new playground equipment the week of December 26.  If you are able to help, please call the school office at (985)369-7402.

Accelerated Reader- The last day to test for Accelerated Reader for the 2nd nine weeks is December 19.

Lunch Money- If your child has a balance owed to the lunch room, please be sure the balance is payed off before exams.

Tardies – Please make sure that students are at school by 7:30.  According to the SES handbook, parents will be assesed a $10 fine for each 7 tardies.  Instruction begins promptly in the morning and it is important for all children to be present unless sick.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Circle of Care Lessons- will be on January 5, 2012.   Letters concerning the Circles of Care lessons were sent home today.  You only have to fill out the form and send it back to school if you do not want your child to participate.

 Diocesan Quiz Bowl- Congratulations to the following students who made the Diocesan Quiz Bowl Team: 5th Grade – Madelyn Fernandez, Zane Blanchard &  Andre Giroir; 6th Grade – Philip Davis, Emily Pujol & Kate Thibodeaux; 7th Grade – Meg Prejean, Claire Landry & Scott Michael LeBlanc; 8th Grade – Andre Templet, Kelsey Gros & Sydnei Mabile.  These students will represent St. Elizabeth School at the Diocesan Quiz Bowl which will take place on February 4, 2012.

Aftercare- All overdue aftercare must be paid by Monday, December 19 in order to clear the aftercare books.  The weeks of December 12-16 and Monday, December 19 will be on one statement will which will be given out on January 4 when we return from the holidays.

Christmas Eve Mass- will be at 4:oopm at St. Elizabeth Church.  The adult choir will provide music for mass.  There were not enough interested students to form a children’s choir this year.  We are still asking students who signed up to dress as shepherds and angels to participate.

LSU Football Pool Fundraiser- The pools will be for the National Championship game on January 9, 2012.  Numbers and copies of the boards will be sent home before the Christmas Holidays.   Please contact the school if you are interested in purchasing a square.  We have $10.00 and $20.00 squares available.

Breakfast With Santa-  A huge Thank You to everyone who helped make Breakfast with Santa a huge success.  Everyone enjoyed a fun filled morning.  Thanks again to chairpersons Yvette Boudreaux and Sandy George and all their elf helpers!!!

Distinguished Graduate- Each Year St. Elizabeth School is asked to choose one Distinguished Graduate from our many eligible S.E.S. alumni. We are proud to announce our 2011 Distinguished Graduate, Suzanne Breaux Giroir. Please join us in congratulating her on this tremendous achievement.

Mass Schedule Change-  We will not be attending Mass on Tuesday, December 6 because we will attend Mass on Thursday, December 8 for the Immaculate Conception and Christmas Memorials.  We will attend Mass as regularly scheduled on Friday, December 9.

SES Athletics- 8th Grade Girls Basketball team members please turn  jerseys in to the office by Friday, December 9.  Boys Basketball Practice- 7th & 8th Grade teams-Tuesday 6:00-7:30 in the new gym; 5th & 6th grade teams 6:00-7:00 in the old gym.  Directions will be sent home with players. Boys Basketball- Game on Wednesday, December 7 at Holy Family vs. Catholic of Pointe Coupee- 6th grade at 6:00pm, 7th grade at 6:45pm and 8th grade at 7:30pm.

Diocesan Quiz Bowl Tryouts- Tuesday, December 6.

Student of the Year- Finalists for Student of the Year are required to stay after school on Wednesday, December 7th to complete their writing assignment.  Students must be picked up from school by 3 pm in the computer lab.  The writing assignment should only take 30 minutes.  The results from the writing assignment will determine the fifth and eighth grade Students of the Year.
