Fundraiser Assignments- are being sent home today. Because of a conflict in scheduling of the Beast Feast and an overwhelming number of parents requesting the Football Pool Fundraiser, it was decided that there would be no Beast Feast this year. An LSU bowl game pool will replace the Beast Feast. The Super Bowl Pools and Golf Tournament will go on as scheduled. Thank you for your continued support!
SES Annual Blood Drive – will be held Monday, September 26 from 2:00pm -7:30 pm in the cafeteria.
First in Math-Congratulations to students in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grades have earned a free shoe day on Wednesday, September 28. 3rd grade is in 2nd place in the Diocese, 4th grade is 9th in the Diocese and 5th Grade is 8th in the Diocese. Great job!
Parents provide transportation- Wednesday, September 28. Aftercare will be provided.

4-H Club News- All 4-H members are asked to stay after school on Friday, September 30 to prepare for the National 4-H Week Project. Students should be picked up at 3:30 pm. You must send a note to give your child permission to stay and please indicate how you child will be getting home. We will have a Green Dress Down Day in honor of National 4-H Week on Wednesday, October 5. Students may wear a green shirt with jeans or school shorts.
St. Elizabeth Harvest Festival- Sunday, October 9. Information about the Harvest Festival, Trail Run applications and T-Shirt order forms were sent home today. Please come out and enjoy the festivities.

SES Cub Fest -Formally the SES Harvest Festival will be held on October 28. If you would like to volunteer your time for the students please call the office or Ghiselle Brown at 985-397-1500. More information will follow in the weeks to come.
AHS T-Shirt Sale- T-shirts are being sold through Assumption High School to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Several fall sports have dedicated certain games throughout the fall season to raise awareness of breast cancer. Short sleeve shirts are $12.00 if you are interested in ordering , please contact Assumption High School. The deadline to order is Wednesday, September 28.
Thibodeauxville 5K Fun Run/Walk- will take place in conjunction with the Thibodeauxville Festival on Saturday, November 12 at 8:00am. If you would like a registration form please contact the office.

Party Invitations- In order to avoid hurt feelings, it is the policy of SES that if invitations are sent to school for your child’s party, either the entire class or all boys or all girls are invited.

Title I Parent Meeting – September 22 at 6:00 pm in the Computer Lab. All Title I parents are invited to attend to receive information regarding the program and to meet Ms. Robin Baye, the Title I teacher.
SES 4-H Club- is now collecting dues of $7.00. The dues must be sent in the green envelopes provided and clearly marked “4-H dues.” Deadline to pay dues is Friday September 23, 2011.

St. Elizabeth Harvest Festival- Assumption Parish Farm Bureau Queen Emily Booty will reign over this year’s Harvest Festival Tractor Parade on Sunday, October 9, at 9:30am. This unique tractor parade will wind through the streets of Paincourtville and along Highway 1 on the same route as last year. The Harvest Festival, which honors the farmers of our Community, is pleased to showcase farmers and their tractors in this event on Sunday Morning. The parade includes the Assumption Mustang Marching Band, the Ascension Catholic Bulldog Marching Band, the Paincourtville Volunteer Fire Department trucks, the “Spirit of Louisiana” fire truck, and the SES Cheerleaders. Please come out and enjoy the parade which is a great start to the day which will include great food, children’s games and activities, homemade auction items, music and much more.

SES Policy on Electronic Devices including Cell Phones:
Permission forms were provided to students today. Students must have parental permission to have a cell phone at school. At no time should students have any other electronic devices at school.
b. Possession or use of electronic devices including cell phones.
1st offense – 1 day after-school detention, confiscate device and return to parent
2nd offense – 2 day after-school detention, confiscate device and return to parent in 30 days
3rd offense – 3 days after-school detention, confiscate device and return to parent on or after the last day of the school year
Note: Students who have parent permission to have a cell phone for safety reasons must give the phone to his/her homeroom teacher during homeroom and will have it returned to him/her at the end of the day. St. Elizabeth School is not responsible for cell phones that may be lost, stolen, or broken. Those having cell phones at school assume all risks.
Sodality Candy & Cool Pop Sale- will be held on Wednesday, September 14th. All items will be 50 cents. All proceeds from the sale will go towards our group project of purchasing an auction item to be donated from the SES students for the St. Elizabeth Church Harvest Festival. This Festival will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011. St. Elizabeth School’s Sodality group will organize and run the sale. Let’s all get together and purchase some SWEET treats, as we wish our local sugarcane farmers a SWEET harvest!!!
Community Birthday Calendars- There are extra calendars available for purchase in the office. The cost is $5.00.
Quiz Bowl- Tryouts will be held immediately after school on Wednesday, September 14. All students will be done by 3:00pm. When students finish their test, parents will receive a phone call notification unless the students is to report to aftercare. Students not attending aftercare will be waiting for parents to pick them up in the 8th grade classroom. A sign out sheet for parents will also be there.
Progress Reports- will be sent home Wednesday, September 14. Please sign and return on Thursday.
Fall Individual Pictures- Thursday, September 15. Please send order forms and payment to school on or before Thursday.
Snack Sale- Friday, September 16. All items are 50 cents.
St. Jude Bike-a-Thon- Saturday, September 17, 2011. The Bike-a-Thon will be held at OLOL Assumption Hospital in Napoleonville. The Trike-a-Thon will begin at 8:15 and the Bike-a-Thon will begin at 9:15am. Please bring the sponsor envelopes with you on the day of the Bike-a-Thon.
Ascension Catholic School Fair -will be held Sunday, September 18 on the Ascension High School grounds. There will be food, games, magic show, auction and lots of family fun.

Sally Ride Science Festival-will be held on Saturday, September 24 hosted by LSU, designed to encourage 5th-8th grade girls in science. The festival features a talk by Former NASA Astronaut Wendy Lawrence; Discovery Workshops for 5th-8th grade girls given by local scientists and engineers (examples include chemists, veterinarians, microbiologists, and others); Workshops for parents and teachers on ways to support students’ interests in science and math; a Street Fair with booths, hands-on activities, food, and music. The 4th Annual Greater Baton Rouge CROP Hunger walk- will be held on Sunday, October 16 at 2:30pm in Baton Rouge. This walk will raise awareness of the struggle to fight hunger. If you are interested in participating you can register at brcropwalk.org.
Respect Life Mass – You are invited to attend the Bishops’ Respect Life Mass on Sunday, October 30 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Cathedral – please spread the word.

SES Sweatshirt and T-shirt order forms- were sent home today. These are optional items. The t-shirts can be worn on spirit days as well as any other shirt purchased from school. A fleece jacket has been added to the standard sweatshirts that have been offered in the past.
