To the Parishioners of St.
Elizabeth and St. Jules Catholic Churches:
May the peace of our Lord
Jesus Christ be with you.
My seven years as pastor of
St. Elizabeth and St. Jules Churches have been a blessing and a source of great
joy to me, and have increased my love for the Priesthood and the Holy Catholic
Church.
At the same time and for
quite awhile, I have been experiencing some internal issues that I believe need
to be addressed. And so, after much
prayer and in consultation with spiritual directors, I
met with Bishop Muench and have requested a one year leave of absence from
active ministry. I assure you that this
request is personal and is not due to any conflict with the Bishop, the Diocese,
or anyone else, nor is it due to a crisis or loss of Faith.
When I spoke with Bishop
Muench, he assured me of his full, prayerful support and of his cooperation
during this time. The Bishop has asked
Fr. Than Vu, Vicar General of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, to celebrate the scheduled
Masses this weekend and to inform you of how the Diocese will provide
administration for the two parishes.
I ask you for your
continued prayers, as you remain in mine.
