The Year of St. Elizabeth-Elizabeth was canonized in 1235 by Gregory IX; in 1236 her relics were translated to the church of St. Elizabeth at Marburg where they remained as the object of enthusiastic popular pilgrimage until 1539, when they were removed to an unknown place by the Lutheran Philip of Hesse.
Fundraiser Meeting- Thanks to all who attended and participated in the discussion of fundraisers for next school year.
Math Bee- Congratulations to all students who participated in the Math Bee. The students who placed were: 1st Grade- 1st place Sage Rivere; 2nd place Sadie Jacobs; 2nd grade -1st place Isabella Naquin, 2nd place Sarah Ryland; 3rd Grade- 1st place Analise Rowland, 2nd Place Parker Coddou; 4th Grade - 1st place Zane Blanchard, 2nd Place Stephen Breaux.
Scrip- We will resume the regular Tuesday order schedule for scrip orders. Great Lakes Scrip Company will be closed the week of April 4-8. There will be no scrip order the week of April 4-8.
MDA Shamrock News- The SES 4-H has raised $397.00 for MDA. We were able to double our goal because of the wonderful support of the SES family. Thanks to you, this money will benefit Jerry’s Kids.
Confetti Eggs- Please remember to save your eggs to make confetti eggs for the fair. You can sent these to the office.
Drama Play Practice- Monday, March 28, Tuesday, March 29, Wednesday, March 30 and Thursday, March 31. All practices are from 2:00-4:00.
Snack Sale- There will be no snack sales during Lent. Students are encouraged to donate snack sale money to those who are less fortunate.
SES Athletics- Volleyball Schedule- Monday, March 28- Home 5th Grade vs. Our Lady of Mercy at 6:00. 6th Grade vs. St. George at 6:45; 8th Grade vs. St. George at 7:45.
5th Grade Volleyball Practice- Wednesday, March 30- 4:00-6:00.
Spelling Bee- Friday, April 1 for Grades 1-4. Competition will begin at 9;00 am with 1st grade and continue with successive grades. Everyone is invited to attend.
AHS Scheduling- A representative from Assumption High School will be here on Friday, April 1 at 1:15 to help the 8th Grade students schedule classes for next school year. Parents are invited to attend.
SES Drama Club presents Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs- April 2 at 7:00pm. The Drama Club is requesting help with concessions for the play. Please call school if you are able to help. We will give service hours to high school volunteers. All members of the cast are reminded to pay the rental for costumes. The cost of $20.00 to rent a costume and $10.00 for cats. Dwarfs must pay $10.00 for their beards and hats. All cast members must arrive on Saturday at 6pm in full makeup in Ms. Diane’s room for pictures. Jambalaya will be served in the gym beginning at 6pm. DVD’s can be ordered for $30.00 at the play or through the office the week following the performance. Admission is $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for children. Students who attend will be given tickets at the door for some great surprises!
Terra Nova Testing- April 4-8.
Cub Camp Registration- April 4-8. Detailed information and registration forms will be sent home next Monday.
Mission Collection- Friday, April 8. Students may bring money all week to put in the containers in their classrooms.
SES Golf Tournament- April 9 at Bayouside Golf Course. We have several types of sponsorships or memorials available. All memorials will be placed on a permanent banner to be hung in the St. Elizabeth School Gym for many years to come. Adoration- Students will attend adoration on April 12 during their Religion classes. Parents and relatives are invited to attend. The schedule will be as follows: 8:15-8:45- 3rd Grade; 8:30-9:00 6th Grade;9:15-9:45 7th Grade; 10:00-10:25 1st Grade; 11:45-12:15 2nd Grade; 12:45-1:15 4th Grade; 1:15-1:45 5th Grade.
Sports Pictures- . April 11- Girls Basketball & Volleyball. April 13- Boys Basketball, Cross Country and Cheerleaders. Students must have uniforms at school to take pictures. Pictures will be taken during school hours. Refund for girl’s Basketball picture orders will be made this week.

Adult Lip Sync- Saturday, April 16. Parents and relatives are invited to participate. Please fill out the forms that were sent home last week and return by April 1 if you are planning to participate so that we can make tha necessary preparations.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week- As we all know our St. Elizabeth School teachers and staff play a vital role in molding our children who are the future. If you are willing to help during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week which is May 2-May 6, 2011, please contact Ghiselle Brown at 985-397-1500. We are looking for individuals who are willing to donate their time to volunteer, individuals who can prepare food for the staff and also serve food to the children for the cafeteria staff. Your help and graciousness is greatly appreciated.

The Year of St. Elizabeth- Dressed in the attire of a poor woman, Elizabeth’s body was laid in state at the Franciscan church in Eisenach for four days. People from across Thuringia came to the coffin and prayed for the assistance of the woman who had devoted her life to spiritual matters.
Fair Sign Up- Sign up sheets for the fair will be in the office from Tuesday, March 22 -Friday, March 25. The sign up sheets will be available at the Book Fair for Family Night and also at the Home and School Meeting on Thursday, March 24.
Fundraiser Meeting- All interested parents are invited to attend a strategic planning meeting concerning fundraising for the 2011-2012 school year on Sunday, March 27 in the school cafeteria from 3-4pm.
School Tool Box- Forms were sent home today to order school supplies for the 2011-2012 school year. Please return these to school by April 15 if you are interested.

Pee Wee Basketball- A special “thank you” goes out to the many volunteers who helped the eighth grade parents make Pee Wee Basketball a great success on Friday night. The Year of St. Elizabeth- Elizabeth’s last act of the outside world was the completion of the Franciscan hospital at Marburg in the summer of 1228. After this, she devoted her heart and soul to the aid of the poor and sick, especially the most severely afflicted. She died only a few years later, at the age of twenty-four.
Give ‘Em Fifty Program- In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, the Give ‘Em Fifty Program for Catholic Schools is being implemented. We ask that you make donations of 50. It could be 50 coins (pennies, nickels, dimes or quarters) or bills (dollars). All donations will go to the needy in our community. What a great way to show the community that our celebration includes consideration for the poor!
Tax forms- We will no longer be able to give aftercare and tuition totals for tax purposes after this year. Please make sure that you keep all receipts and canceled checks for tax purposes.
Mass- There will be no mass on Tuesday, March 15.
Sodality Hours- for the 3rd nine weeks are due now. This is part of the participation grade.
Report Cards – Report cards will be issued on Wednesday, March 16.
6th Grade Parent Breakfast – March 16 at 7 a.m.
Math Bee- Wednesday, March 16 for Grades 1- 4 beginning at 8:30 am with 1st Grade. Other grades will follow.
Leap Tutoring- Tutoring will occur after school until 3:30 on Wednesday March 16.
Drama Play Practice- Monday, March 14 and Thursday, March 17 from 2:00-4:00.
Shamrocks for MDA- The deadline to purchase shamrocks will be Wednesday, March 16, 2011. The cost is $1.00 for a green shamrock or $5.00 for a gold shamrock. SES 4-H would like to thank everyone for their huge support in exceeding their goal for MDA!!
