SES Registration - Please remember that a $50.00 late fee will be added to the $125 per student registration fee if payment is received after February 26.

New Family Registration -February 22-26.  Please pass this information on to any prospective families.

Athletics – ACMS boys’ basketball make-up games will be today, Feb. 22nd.

      6th grade – 6:00 p.m.

      7th grade – 6:45 p.m.

       8th grade – 7:45 p.m.

Science Fair- Thanks to Ms. Angela and everyone else who helped! Congratulations to all who participated.  All 1st place winners will represent SES at the Nicholls Science Fair.  See the attached link science-fair-results2010

Early Dismissal- February 24th . Students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. There will be no aftercare on that day. Assumption Parish buses will be running.

4th Grade Parent Breakfast - Thursday, February 25th.

Accelerated Reader Field Trip – The trip to Barnes and Noble is scheduled for February 25th.  Lunch money is due tomorrow, February 23.

Student Absences – Please remember to call in to notify the office if your child is out sick. Thank you for helping us to insure the safety of your children.

Pee Wee Basketball- Friday, February 26th.  Games will be played during school from 12:30 2:00 p.m.  Evening games will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Scrip– This week’s  Scrip orders will be due in on Monday, Feb. 22nd and will go out on Friday, Feb. 26th.

AHS Registration Information – An Assumption High School representative will be at SES at 12:30 on March 3rd to talk to students about scheduling classes for the 2010-2011 school year.  Parents are invited to attend.

Exams - To accommodate SES students attending the Science and Social Studies Fairs at Nicholls, the following exam schedule will be used:                      

  • Friday, March 5 – Science, Reading
  • Tuesday, March 9 – Math, Religion
  • Thursday, March 11 – Social Studies, English

Nicholls Fairs - Social Studies – March 10, Science – March 12

SES Bees - Math Bee – March 15, Spelling Bee – March 29, Creative Writing will be completed in class.

Catholic Identity Survey Deadline Extension- The surveys distributed by the diocese on Catholic identity are to be completed by Saturday, February 20th . This information is needed for the school’s accreditation process. Thanks for your cooperation!!!

Winter Raffle- Thank you to all who participated to make this fundraiser successful.  Your efforts keep tuition affordable for everyone.  The winners are:  Michelle Blanchard – $1,000; Mark Breaux – $750; Betty Blaine – $500; Rylie Klack – $250;  Stacy Fortenberry -$125.  Students’ names who sold extra tickets was placed in a drawing.  The winners of the drawing were Logan & Madison Sanchez.

In-House Registration - Registration forms are still being collected.  Make sure that your registration form is submitted before new family registration next week to insure your student’s continued enrollment.  Please remember that a $50.00 late fee will be added to any registration received after February 26. SES Brochures – If anyone would like to have copies of the new SES brochure to give to prospective parents or to have available at their business, please contact the office.

Snack Sale – No snack sales during lent.

Beta Club – Members are reminded to bring $14.00  Beta convention fees by tomorrow.

Drama Club News – Cast members of  “The Wizard of Oz” will begin an alternating practice schedule starting tomorrow (Thursday).  Cast members will be divided into groups A and B.  Group A will include all students who appear on pages 1-14 in the script.  Group B will be all students on pages 15 until the end of the play.  Also, play practice will extend to 4:15 since practice time will be shared with some athletic teams’ practices.  This is the only way we will be prepared for our play on March 27th.  Please make changes on your practice schedule.  Group A will practice Thursday, and Group B will pactice Friday.  Thank you so much for your cooperation in our play practices.

Weekly Notes – February 8, 2010

Winter Raffle – Sold ticket stubs and money will be accepted through Wednesday, February 10.  The drawing for the raffle will be at Carnival on Friday, February 12.  Any money not turned in by the due date will be added to your tuition account for collection.

Catholic Schools’ Week – Thank you to all of the moms who came to school to help out on duty so that the teachers could enjoy a delicious and relaxing meal in appreciation for all they do for the children of SES and the promotion of Catholic education.

Special Thanks – We especially appreciate those parents and teachers who spoke in our churches this weekend about the value of Catholic education.  New family registration is coming up later this month.  We all need to continue spreading the “Good News of SES”.

Catholic Schools’ Week Diocesan Project -Thanks to the generousity of  our families, we brought 10 boxes filled with donations for the needy of the diocese to the Catholic Schools Mass at St. Thomas More!

 Abbey Fest Shrimp Stew SaleStudents are to either sell 7 quarts of shrimp stew for $70, or return the unsold tickets with $35 to cover the cost of the trip.

Carnival-Friday, February 12 – Students will compete in the categories of Prettiest, Funniest, and Most Original.  They may compete as individuals or in groups.  They are all separated into 2 divisions with Pre-K-3rd competing against each other, and 4th-7th competing.  Admission for the event will be $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children.  This year’s Carnival will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 12th.  Please make plans to join us for an afternoon of great fun.

Community Softball League will be starting back up for the summer. Registration is going on now. If you are interested, please contact Dana Aucoin, 985-369-6761 or email me at dana.aucoin@acs-inc.com. I will send you an application. The season will begin on Monday, June 7 with the Jamboree.

Parents Provide Transporation – St. Elizabeth will be in session on Ash Wednesday.  Everyone is invited to attend mass with us.  Assumption Parish buses will not be running , therefore parents will be responsible for providing transportation in both the morning and afternoon.  Aftercare will be provided.

Science Fair – Thursday, February 18.  Reminder:  All students in 4th-8th grades are required to present either a Social Studies or Science Fair project.  Anyone not participating in the Social Studies Fair, must participate in the Science Fair.

Community Softball League will be starting back up for the summer. Registration is going on now. If you are interested, please contact Dana Aucoin, 985-369-6761 or email me at dana.aucoin@acs-inc.com. I will send you an application. The season will begin on Monday, June 7 with the Jamboree.

Catholic Schools’ Week Mass – Thank you to all students, faculty and parents who attended mass on Sunday to represent our school!

Catholic Schools’ Week Diocesan Project - As a service project, all Catholic school students in the Diocese are being asked to make donations to benefit the less fortunate in our area.  St. Elizabeth School students are being asked to donate dish washing liquid, laundry detergent, or paper towels.  All items should be brought to school by Wednesday, February 3 to be packaged and presented by our 8th grade representatives at the Catholic Schools’ Mass at St. Thomas More on Friday, February 5. 

January “No Detention” Dress Down – On Super Bowl Monday students who have received no detentions for the month of January will have a pajama day!!!

Library News – Since the beginning of school, the library has added 223 new books to our library shelves.  All books, 149 hard back books and 74 paperbacks are Accelerated Reader books with a variety of reading levels and Accelerated Reader point values to choose from.  Both fiction and non-fiction options are available, with a wide range of reading interests.  Please keep encouraging your child/children to visit the library, which is open for all recesses, to see our new selections.

 

Community Coupons – have been sent in for the January 31, 2010 redemption deadline.  We will let you know the exact amount collected from this fundraiser when we receive our Community Coffee Cash for Schools check.  The library has already started collection coupons (Community coffee and Box Tops for Education) for our next year’s coupon submissions.  Since this is an ongoing fundraiser, you may send in your coupons at anytime throughout the school year.  Please keep collecting, clipping and sending in your coupons.  Thanks to all who participated.
