Thanksgiving Lunch and Grandparents Day – Again this year, our faculty sponsors, Ms. Loretta Lirette, Ms. Dusty Landry, Ms. Dawn Charlet, Ms. Ali Morris, and Ms. Tina Landry did a fabulous job of coordinating these events. The Thanksgiving lunch provided by the cafeteria staff was delicious .   Special thanks to Ms. Alice Boudreaux for her wonderful fall decorations, Mr. Ryan Falsetta for transporting the tables, Mrs. Scottie Brister for gifts for the faculty, staff, and guests, and all of the mom’s who helped to decorate and serve at these two very special events. 

World’s Finest Chocolate Sale- Thanks to our parents, students, and other supporters of SES, the sale was a huge success.  Together we raised $12,800.00.  The top sellers are:

          1st place – La’Anjana Gray

          2nd place – Hailey France

          3rd place – Corrion Thomas

     Other top sellers were: Alex Hood, Haleigh Zeringue & Philip Davis, Isabella Naquin, Mallory & Mylie Blanchard, Madison George, Sarah Rivere and Samantha Aucoin.

Tales of Wonder – Ascension Catholic has invited the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders of SES to attend their musical performance of Tales of Wonder on Wednesday, December 2.  Permission slips and $1 bus fee are due tomorrow.

Breakfast with Santa -The St. Elizabeth Home & School Association is hosting Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the St. Elizabeth School Gym.  Admission is $5.00 per child (no charge for children under 2).  There will be refreshments, crafts, games, story time and photos with Santa.  Come join us for a morning filled with fun!

If you would like to help sponsor this event, your donation will be greatly appreciated.  Donations of time, talent and treasure are all welcome!  If you would like to help Friday or Saturday, please send in your signup sheet by Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, or call Jill Prejean at (832) 687-1057.  If you would like to send money, please send to school in a sealed envelope marked “Breakfast with Santa” and include the names you’d like listed on the sponsorship banner.

Legacy Campaign-The legacy campaign for our students will end this Friday, so please encourage your children to put loose change in their “banks” and return the banks to school by Friday.  Thanks so much for your support of the children’s efforts to be part of our worthwhile campaign!

Holy Childhood – The Holy Childhood Advent boxes are being sent home today.   These boxes should be returned by Tuesday, December 15th.

Christmas Memorials – The annual prayer service will be held immediately following the 7:35 mass on December 8 celebrating the Immaculate Conception of Mary.  Memorial intentions will be accepted through Wednesday, December 2.

Kindergarten Parent Breakfast - 7:00 am on Wednesday, December 9th.

Parents Provide Afternoon Transportation Only- Wednesday, December 16, parents will be required to provide transportation in the afternoon only.  Busses will run in the morning as usual.  Aftercare will be provided on this day.

SES Christmas Activities – Parents, mark your calendars!  You are all invited to spend the day with us on Friday, December 18.  The day will begin with mass followed by the Living Nativity performed by the 8th grade class.  We will also have performances by each grade in the gym and classroom Christmas parties after lunch. 

Spirit Dress Down Day – Students who did not receive any detentions during the month of November will be allowed to dress down tomorrow, December 1.  Students may wear a SES spirit shirt with jeans or uniform shorts with school shoes.  Check the handbook for dress down guidelines.

Boys’ Basketball practice -

      5th grade – Wednesday – 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.                                                         

      6th grade – Wednesday – 2:05 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

      8th grade – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday – 2:05 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

      Athletic order forms for sweatshirts, break-away pants, and parent shirts will be sent home tomorrow.  The due date to turn in order forms is this Friday December 4th.  Forms submitted by the due date will receive their orders by next week.  Order forms submitted after this Friday will be filled after the Christmas holidays.

Progress Reports - Wednesday, November 18.  Please sign and return on Thursday.

SES Thanksgiving Lunch – Wednesday, November 18, in the gym.  We are in need of helpers to decorate on Tuesday beginning a 1pm and to help serve on Wednesday beginning at 11 am.  Please call the office at 369-7402 if you are available to be part of this beautiful tradition.

Grandparents’ Day - Friday, November 20.  Please remind all grandparents that the church will open at 7 am and mass will begin at 8am.  A reception in the gym will follow classroom visits with grandchildren.  Lay Carmelites will accompany students whose grandparents are unable to attend.  Again, helpers are needed to prepare and serve at the reception.  Please call the office if you can lend a hand. 

Student Absences – Please notify the school when your child is absent.  You may leave a message if there is no answer.  If we do not hear from a student by morning attendance, we will call to verify the absence with the parent.  This policy is being implemented as a safety measure for the children.

Changing mode of transportation-For your child’s safety we are asking that you not call the school during the day to change your child’s mode of transportation.  Exceptions will be made only with the principal’s approval.

Thanksgiving Holidays - November 23-27.  Classes resume on November 30.

Recruitment Party 2010-We are very busy getting ready for our annual SES Recruitment party.  it will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 in our school gym.  At this party, we introduce St. Elizabeth School to prospective Pre-K and Kindergarten students and their parents as a viable option to consider as they prepare for their child’s educational future.  Little ones have a great time at the party with arts and crafts, a space walk, face painting, balloon art and refreshments, while their parents watch an informative media presentation about SES followed by a question and answer session and tour of the school campus.  If you know of anyone who would be of school age for either Pre-K or Kindergarten next school year, 2010-2011, please send the name and address of the child and their parents to school as soon as possible so that they may be sent a formal invitation to the party. We all love SES and know of the valuable eduction and spiritual formation that we and our children receive here.  now is the time to share the good news of SES with everyone.  Do you know someone? Christmas Memorials-SES is once again accepting Christmas Memorials. What a special way to remember your deceased loved ones at Christmas.  We will hold an Advent Prayer Service on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 immediately following 7:30 a.m. Mass in St. Elizabeth Church to honor our Memorials.  Please join us.  Christmas Memorials will be accepted now through Wednesday, December 2nd.  The names of our memorials will be printed in our Winter issue of “SES Today”.  Memorial form can be found on the following link:christmas-memorial-form-to-put-on-website-as-a-link1

Grandparent Attendance Survey – Grandparent Attendance Survey forms are being sent home today with oldest child.  Very important that these forms are completed and returned by TOMORROW (Tuesday).

Scrip News – In anticipation of the Christmas rush starting this week scrip orders will be due in the office on Mondays until further notice.   Scrip order forms are available in the office if you would like to place an order.

PE - During the cold weather months, students will be allowed to wear warm ups or sweat pants of any color over their PE uniforms.

Thank You! – Our “new” storage building looks great thanks to, parents, Matt Barbera and Alison Viator who painted on some “SES Pride”.  Anyone wanting to lend a hand on any project, please let us know.  We welcome the help!

Beast Feast – Thanks to Allison Viator, Beast Feast Chairperson, and everyone who helped out in any way.  The weather was beautiful, the food was delicious, and everyone had lots of fun!

World’s Finest Chocolate Sale – The sale has been a huge success again this year thanks to the hard work of our students, parents and staff.  Deadline to turn in payments is Friday, November 13.  Please be on time.

Legos, KNEX, blocks, etc. -We are in need of construction type toys for after care.  Students will have to be spending more time indoors now as winter approaches, so we are asking for donations of building toys to be played with inside.  If you would like to make a donation, just bring the toys by or give us a call to make arrangements if necessary.

Early Dismissal – Wednesday, November 11 students will be dismissed at 11 am.  There will be bus transportation, but no aftercare. 

Veteran’s Day Program – Wednesday, November 11 at 9am.  Everyone is invited to attend.

7th grade Parent Breakfast – Thursday, November 12 at 7 am.  We look forward to seeing you all!

Assumption 4-H Week – St. Elizabeth 4-H club will be participating in Assumption 4-H Week.  There will be a dress down day to celebrate Assumption 4-H Week on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009.  The students can wear a green shirt with jeans or uniform shorts.  See handbook for dress down day guidelines.

Harvest Festival-pumpkindecoratingcontest-09-103  Thanks to our Home & School Association and everyone who helped out to make the afternoon such fun!

Beast Feast – Students may wear Beast Feast t-shirts to school on Thursday, November 5 with jeans or uniform shorts.  Regular dress down day guidelines apply.    Beast Feast this weekend – Saturday, Nov. 7th.  Gates will open at 10 a.m.  $15.00 for adults (age 12 & up) $5.00/children (under 12) All you can eat – All day long.  Cheerleader Clinic and punt, pass & kick contest will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Game time: 2:30 p.m.

 Thank You Volunteers – Thanks to Nicholas and Jill Prejean and Ms. Angela Burt for painting the panels in front of school.  It looks great!  Anyone wishing to help out with any project, please contact school.  This year we would like to beautify the grounds with flower beds and brighten things up with a little paint and inspiration.  Your ideas are always welcome.  God make our school a family, working together brings us closer!

Home & School News- We would like to sincerely thank each and every mom and dad who helped with the Annual Fall Festival.  For all those who offered suggestions, organized events, coordinated volunteer efforts, purchased supplies, moved items, made games, set up, worked booths, served refreshments and cleaned up – the gifts of your time, talent and treasure are greatly appreciated.   Special thanks to our pumpkin decorating contest judges-Mrs. Sandy Mattingly, Mrs. Denise Brown and Mr. Wayne “Hot Dog” Boudreaux: as well as to Mrs. Alice Boudreaux who graciously provides the background decorations for our fall photos each year.

Home & School Breakfast with Santa Planning Meeting-There will be a meeting on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 6:30 to 7:30 in the 7th grade classroom for the purpose of planning our Home & School Breakfast with Santa event.  All are invited to attend.

 School Board Meeting – Thursday, November 12 at 6:30 in the Science Lab.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Sports Pictures and Individual Retakes – Thursday, November 5 beginning at 8 am.  Students must have uniforms in order to take pictures!  They will not be able to call home for uniforms. Coaches – if you are available, you may come by to take pictures with teams at approximately 8:30.  Order forms for retakes are available in the office.
