Blood Drive – today 2:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the S.E.S. cafeteria.
Thanks to Ms. Paulette Burdis, Scottie Brister, and Dwayne LeBlanc for helping out at school.
We are always in need of helpers around school. If you are available to help with maintenance, clerical work, substitute teaching, serving with cafeteria, etc. please let us know. We would love to have you!
Accelerated Reader – Last day for Accelerated Reader testing is Oct. 13th.
Lip Sync Gym practice - If your group would like to be scheduled for a gym practice for Lip Sync the weekends of Oct. 10th & Oct. 17th, you must contact the office by this Wednesday, Sept. 30th. Assignments will be made by “lottery drawings”.
Columbus Day – No school on Monday, Oct. 12th.
Parents provide transportation on Wednesday afternoon , Oct. 14th. Public schools are having a half day for teacher in-service.
Exams – October 14 – 16 for grades 4-8.
4-H-Reminder – 4-H dues are being collected for grades 4th through 8th. The dues are $5.00 and must be put in the green envelopes provided by the office and clearly marked 4-H dues. Deadline for dues is October 9, 2009.

Home & School News – At the first meeting of the 2009-2010 school year, the St. Elizabeth Home & School Association (HSA) elected new officers. They are as follows: President: Vicky LeBlanc, Vice President – Jill Prejean, Secretary – Jill Barbier, and Treasurer – Karen Richard
We need your help! We want to be proactive in the improvement of our school both educationally, by providing our teachers with much needed classroom aids and environmentally, by assisting in projects to beautify our school. In addition, the Home & School Association seeks to assist the school financially through its fundraising efforts, thereby keeping tuition more affordable. Please consider being a member. If you haven’t paid your dues ($10), it’s not too late! Please send them to school in an envelope labeled “Home & School Dues” by Friday October 2, 2009.
There will be a Home & School meeting on Thursday, October 15th from 6:30 to 7:30 in the cafeteria. The main purpose of this meeting is to reorganize the Home & School Association and outline our goals and objectives. Look for more information on upcoming events in the weeks to come!

SACS Accreditation-We are very happy to announce that St. Elizabeth, along with the other schools in the Diocese of Baton Rouge, will go through a federal accreditation process during the next two years. The purpose of the process is to insure that our schools continue to meet high standards, and to engage in continuous improvement. Throughout the process, you will be given information on the progress and you will be asked to complete surveys about our school. Please keep our faculty and staff in your thoughts and prayers as we go through the rigorous process of accreditation.
School Board meeting – tonight at 6:30 in the Science Lab. Everyone is invited to attend.
Home & School meeting – Thursday, Sept. 24th at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Please make every effort to attend. There will be an election of officers for the 09-10 school year as well as regular business.
Title I Parent Meeting Change - The meeting will begin at 6:20 p.m instead of 6:00 p.m. Parents of Title I students are encouraged to attend.
Book Fair – Reminder SES Fall Book Fair this week (Monday- Thursday) in the library. Schedule is as follows: Monday-Sept. 21st – 1st, 2nd, 4th & 7th; Tuesday, Sept. 22nd – Kn., 3rd, 5th, 6th; Wednesday, Sept. 23rd – PK, 8th, make-ups begin; Thursday, Sept. 24th – All make-ups will be completed.
Masses -There will be no school masses on Sept. 22nd, 25th, 29th. Father Labbe is away on retreat.
St. Jude Dress Down – For a minimum donation of $2.00 students will be allowed to dress down in jeans or uniform shorts with an appropriate shirt and shoes of their choice on Friday, September 25th. A donation to St. Judes will be made in honor of the past and present students of SES who were patients at St. Judes.
St. Jude Bike-A-Thon/Trike-A-Thon – Assumption General Hospital on Saturday, Sept. 26th. Trike-A-Thon will begin at 8 a.m. Opening Ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. with the Bike-A-Thon beginning after the ceremony. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Box dinners (jambalaya, white beans, salad & bread) will be sold. If you would like to order a box dinner in advance, please contact Norma Blanchard at 369-4000. Hot dogs and homemade chilli will be available for sale and also small bowl of jambalaya for $1.00 on Saturday.
Grandparent Information – Reminder – Grandparent information forms were due Friday. Please return all forms by tomorrow.
Math Tutoring – permission slips are due now. Tutoring begins this week.

Many Thanks to alumni of S.E.S., Mr. Rene Esneault and Mr. Roland LeBlanc for the dirt work they did on the back field to get it ready for the Beast Feast and for the children to safely play there.
Athletics Parent Meeting Reminder – There will be a parent meeting for girls basketball tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. (instead of 6:30 p.m.) in the gym. At least one parent or guardian must be in attendance. If you are unable to attend on this date, please notify the office so that we can arrange an individual meeting time. NOTE: The athletic parent meeting scheduled for tonight has been postponed. Rescheduled for Thursday, 6:00 p.m.
Snack Sale – There will be a snack sale this Friday.
Progress Reports for grades 2-8 go out on Wednesday, September 16th. Please review, sign, and return by Friday, September 18th.
Early Dismissal – Students will be dismissed at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16. There will be no aftercare on early dismissal days.

Cafeteria Helpers – Any parent or grandparent who would like to help with serving lunch in the cafeteria, please call the office at 369-7402 or send a note if you did not already sign up on the volunteer form. Please indicate the days that you are available. The cafeteria will send out monthly schedules. Help is needed from 10:10 – 12:20 daily.
Grandparent Information – On a yearly basis, the Development office must update our grandparent information in order to maintain a current listing. This information is used in many ways, especially to compile a mailing list for SES Today and for invitations to our annual Grandparents’ Day celebration on November 20, 2009. The post office returns all mail with incomplete or inaccurate addresses to the school, however we are still charged for the postage. Your oldest child will be taking home today a request for current information. New families will receive a form to fill out and return. All other families will receive a form containing grandparent information currently on file. Please take the time to update and/or make any corrections to this important information. School Birthday Calendar – Many thanks to Vicky LeBlanc and Jill Prejean for continuing the tradition of our school calendar and to all who support this fundraiser through their purchase.
Development Office – We are in need of volunteers to help us update our alumni mailing addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. Most of this work can be done at home. Please call the sch0ol office or Loretta Lirette at 985-447-6134 or email at llirette@charter.net to volunteer.
LSU – ACT-Prep Courses – are being offered on the LSU Campus. If interested contact the office for more information.
Mission Collection - We have Mission Collection for Christian Foundation for Children, and Holy Childhood Association on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009. This is a great opportunity for us to be generous to help the needy children focusing on “children helping children”. There will be no snack sale when there is a mission collection.
