Weekly Notes – February 1, 2010
Community Softball League will be starting back up for the summer. Registration is going on now. If you are interested, please contact Dana Aucoin, 985-369-6761 or email me at dana.aucoin@acs-inc.com. I will send you an application. The season will begin on Monday, June 7 with the Jamboree.
The registration forms were due back on 2-2-10, but if you would like to participate, please don’t hesitate to contact me to get your child\children registered within the next few weeks.
Winter Raffle – The deadline to turn in raffle ticket stubs and money is Friday, February 5. Please contact the office if you need additional tickets. The drawing will be held on Friday, February 12 during the Mardi Gras Carnival. Families selling extra books of tickets will have their names entered into a drawing for a $100.00 gift card to WalMart, Game Stop, Build-a-Bear, Claire’s, Foot Locker, or a Prepaid Visa. In order to keep tuition affordable, we must make our fundraisers successful. Thanks, for your continued support of SES!

2010-2011 SES Registration - In house registration is scheduled for next week, February 8-12. Registration for new families is February 22-26. Please continue to forward names of families interested in SES for the 2010-2011 school year so that we can make contact with them prior to registration.
Catholic Schools’ Week Mass – Thank you to all students, faculty and parents who attended mass on Sunday to represent our school!
Catholic Schools’ Week Diocesan Project - As a service project, all Catholic school students in the Diocese are being asked to make donations to benefit the less fortunate in our area. St. Elizabeth School students are being asked to donate dish washing liquid, laundry detergent, or paper towels. All items should be brought to school by Wednesday, February 3 to be packaged and presented by our 8th grade representatives at the Catholic Schools’ Mass at St. Thomas More on Friday, February 5.
January “No Detention” Dress Down – On Super Bowl Monday students who have received no detentions for the month of January will have a pajama day!!!
Abbey Fest Shrimp Stew Sale – Students are to either sell 7 quarts of shrimp stew for $70, or return the unsold tickets with $35 to cover the cost of the trip.
Progress Reports – Wednesday, February 10
Carnival-Friday, February 12 – Students will compete in the categories of Prettiest, Funniest, and Most Original. They may compete as individuals or in groups. They are all separated into 2 divisions with Pre-K-3rd competing against each other, and 4th-7th competing. Admission for the event will be $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children. This year’s Carnival will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 12th. Please make plans to join us for an afternoon of great fun.
Parents Provide Transporation – St. Elizabeth will be in session on Ash Wednesday. Everyone is invited to attend mass with us. Assumption Parish buses will not be running , therefore parents will be responsible for providing transportation in both the morning and afternoon. Aftercare will be provided.
Science Fair - Thursday, February 18. Reminder: All students in 4th-8th grades are required to present either a Social Studies or Science Fair project. Anyone not participating in the Social Studies Fair, must participate in the Science Fair.
Early Dismissal - February 24. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. There will be no aftercare on that day.
4th Grade Parent Breakfast – Thursday, February 25.
Accelerated Rreader Field Trip – The trip to Barnes and Noble is scheduled for February 25. More details will come.
Student Absences – Please remember to call in to notify the office if your child is out sick. Thank you for helping us to insure the safety of your children.
Library News – Since the beginning of school, the library has added 223 new books to our library shelves. All books, 149 hard back books and 74 paperbacks are Accelerated Reader books with a variety of reading levels and Accelerated Reader point values to choose from. Both fiction and non-fiction options are available, with a wide range of reading interests. Please keep encouraging your child/children to visit the library, which is open for all recesses, to see our new selections.
Community Coupons – have been sent in for the January 31, 2010 redemption deadline. We will let you know the exact amount collected from this fundraiser when we receive our Community Coffee Cash for Schools check. The library has already started collection coupons (Community coffee and Box Tops for Education) for our next year’s coupon submissions. Since this is an ongoing fundraiser, you may send in your coupons at anytime throughout the school year. Please keep collecting, clipping and sending in your coupons. Thanks to all who participated.

Social Studies Fair- Those students attending the Social Studies Fair at Nicholls should turn in their entry forms and entry fees by this Wednesday, Feb. 3rd.
