Math Bee Correction- The 2nd grade winners were 1st place-Sage Rivere, 2nd Place- Peyton Barbera. Sorry about the mix up. Congratulations!
Drama Practice- Students involved in the drama play were sent home with a practice schedule on Friday. If you did not receive one please contact the office. Practices for this week are as follows: Monday January 23, Wednesday, January 25, and Thursday, January 26. All practices are until 4:30. Any children involved in basketball or volleyball will be allowed to leave early from practice. K and 1st Graders- Students in K& 1st grade are invited to join the cast of Alice in Wonderland. The boys would participate as “card soldiers” and the girls would be “flowers”. The boys will wear white and the girls will wear green. More information will be sent home to those who choose to participate concerning costumes and practices (only the week of the play on March 31) later.
Community Coffee Labels- will be shipped on January 30, 2012. If you have any that you have been holding on to, please submit them this week. Please continue to submit them through out the year as they are submitted twice each school year.
Coupons- Please continue to submit your Box Tops for Education, Community Coffee Labels, Coke Tops, Powerade Tops, Labels for Education and Surfresh labels.
Cartriges for Kids - We are still collecting any used ink cartridges. You can send these to the office at your convenience.
Super Bowl Pools- Please be sure to send back the board on time to give all families equal time to sell squares. Please contact the school if you are interested in purchasing a square. We have $10.00 and $100.00 squares available.
SES Athletics- Boys Basketball-Practice 6th grade Thursday 5:30-7:00. Games: Tuesday, January 24 at Holy Family- 6th at 6:00; 7th at 6:45; 8th at 7:45. Wednesday, January 25 Home- 6th vs. St. John at 6:00; 7th vs. OLOM at 6:45; 8th vs. St. John at 7:45 and 5th grade at Holy Family vs. St. Jean Vianney at 6:45.
SES Volleyball News-Conditioning – Tuesday, January 24 2:00-3:45. Mandatory registration night for volleyball is Friday, February 10th from 6 – 7pm. At least one parent/guardian is required to accompany girls for registration. There will be a short meeting at the end to discuss plans for the season. All forms & fees must be submitted that night before jersey can be received. Forms will be sent home this week.
AR Field Trip – January 24. Transportation provided. Students need $6 for lunch and spending money.
Spelling Bee - January 25 at 8:00am. Grades 1-4 will participate in the Spelling Bee. SES Recruitment Party – Saturday, January 28. Please forward names of prospective families so that they can be invited to attend. Parents of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students: We need student volunteers for our Annual Recruitment Party this Saturday January 28, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The students need to be at St. Elizabeth for 9:00 a.m. and picked up by 11:15 a.m. Letters will be going home with students today, January 23rd. A permission slip is attached to the letter. Please complete the permission slip, sign and return to school. Sodality service hours will be given to Sodality members.
Catholic Schools Week Mass- Catholic Schools Week will begin Sunday, January 29th with 10:45 Mass at St. Elizabeth. Sodality members are expected to attend. 3rd and 4th grade students are invited to sing in the choir. All students and parents are encouraged to attend. Students must wear their uniform. Immediately following mass a reception will be held in the new gym. CF Industries has generously donated Jambalaya, refreshments and desserts which will be served at the reception. There will be a special prize for students who attend in uniform.
Catholic Schools Week- January 29-February 3. Students are asked to bring hygiene items to schools to be presented at the Catholic Schools Week Mass on Friday, February 3. St. Elizabeth School is asked to bring toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, deodorant, shaving cream, first aid supplies. Please bring these items to school by Friday, January 27.
SES 2012 Distinguished Graduate - Congratulations to Suzanne Giroir, SES class of ’82, who will represent SES at the Diocesan Distinguished Graduates Dinner on Tuesday, January 31 as well as at the Catholic Schools Mass at St. Elizabeth Church on Sunday January 29. We are proud to have a graduate who remains so active in our school as a parent and school board member, dedicating much of her time to SES.
Catholic Schools Week Activities: Monday, January 30: Students will begin Catholic Schools Week Prayer and will be working on a gift for their parents.
Tuesday, January 31: Students will have an extra recess from 11:45-12:25, during this time we are asking for Parent Volunteers to watch the children while the Teachers/Staff enjoy an Appreciation Luncheon.
Wednesday, February 1: Dress Down for Catholic Schools Week. Students are encouraged to wear Green, Red and Purple. Regular dress down rules apply. Students may wear a spirit shirt or uniform shirt in lieu of green, red or purple.
Thursday, February 2: There will be a Pep-rally for the students as well as a special treat for each of them.
Friday, February 3: Catholic Schools Week Mass in Baton Rouge, 10 of our 8th graders will be attending.
1st Friday – February, 3. Sodality uniforms must be worn.
Mission Collection – February 3.
Diocesan Quiz Bowl- February 4 at St. Aloyisus 8:00 am-1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Science Fair- has been changed to February 6 due to the Nicholls State Science Fair deadline.

Spirit Dress Down Day- Wednesday, February 8. Students may wear a spirit shirt with jeans or uniform shorts or pants. Please see the handbook for dress down day guidelines.
Adult Lip Sync- Saturday, February 11 at 7:30pm. DEADLINES for Adult Lip Sync – Just a reminder that deadline for acts to be submitted is THIS Friday, January 27, 2012. Please contact either Mrs. Liz George, (225) 717-3113, Mrs. Darlene Landry, (225)573-5212, or the S.E.S Office, (985) 369-7402 with this information . Also, we ask that each act turn in 2 CD’s with a copy of your song by the following Friday, February 3, 2012.
VOLUNTEERS for Adult Lip Sync – We are looking for volunteers to help out at the Adult Lip Sync on Saturday, February 11th. If any parents are willing to help with concession, at the door, behind the scenes, or in any way that night please contact the office. Planning for the BIG EVENT is going great, and it is sure to be an entertaining night!!!
New Family Registration – February 13-17.
4th Grade Parent Breakfast- Wednesday, February 15 at 7am. Parents are invitd to join us for morning prayer in the prayer garden.
Carnival – February 17. Costume contest at 12:30 in the Community Center. Please see the handout sent home today for details.

Ash Wednesday – Everyone is invited to attend mass and receive ashes at 7:35 mass.
Bishop’s Visit – Bishop Muench will celebrate mass and visit with the student body, faculty, and staff of SES on Friday, February 24. Everyone is invited to join us for mass.
Parent-Teacher Conferences – Wednesday, February 29. Children will not attend school this day. Parents will be given the opportunity to sign up for conferences.
Pee Wee Basketball – March 2.
Confetti Eggs- Please save your eggs for confetti eggs for the fair. You may begin sending the eggs to school.
